Forest Walks

There are wonderful woodland and forest walks that lead off from each of our three activity locations.  Free parking is available, and there are variants on the walks for every taste – from flat and easy to more demanding.

Walks - Activity Club House, Dragon’s Tooth Golf Course

Dragon Monkey Trail | 0.5 hour – 1 hour | easy

This nature trail starts from the Club House, with an interpretive notice board, quiz sheet and intrigue for all ages!  Search for the illusive Dragon Monkey and even find some Dragon Monkey eggs ...

Old Railway Line | 1 hour | easy

Stroll up the lane at the back of the course, go over the old railway bridge and then turn left or right.  Either way, you will find a delightful and peaceful walk.  Flat terrain, magical woodlands, superb lochside views.

Glenachulish Circular Route

1 hour | easy | Take the river-side path up into the Glenachulish woods as far as you like. A walk through a wide variety of conifer and broadleaf trees with viewpoints to admire the breath-taking scenery of Loch Leven, the Ballachulish Bridge and the surrounding mountains.

2 hours | easy | Head left and do the St Johns route – which brings you down by St John’s Church (on the A82, 1/2 way to Ballachulish), then walk back on the cycle track.

1+ hours | medium | Head up into the hills behind the golf course.  Circular forest path around the “horse shoe” of the Beinn a'Bheithir massif, one of the most popular mountains in Scotland.

The views from the forest over Loch Leven are awesome and can be viewed en route to the high tops or by a short walk from the car park.

Walks - SeaXplore Base, Isles of Glencoe Hotel, Ballachulish

Peninsula Walk | 0.5 hour | easy

A gentle walk out onto the peninsula beside us gives fantastic, panoramic views of the area.  See Burial island, the Pap of Glencoe and Loch Leven from a special vantage point. Benches and interpretive boards along the route.

Quarry Walk

0.5 hour | easy | Stroll up into the old quarry; an impressive landscape, with a great sense of history and an “industrial” past.

2 hours | medium | There’s a memorable route that follows a circular track up through the village, into the forest and then round, back down via the quarry side.  Highly recommended.

Walks - Vertical Descents, Inchree

Waterfall Walk

1 hour | easy

A short steep trail that takes you to spectacular views of the Righ Falls. From the car park, head for the open fields to access the walk.

One of the top ten walks in the Forestry Commission, the views are well worth the effort. Once at the top you return to the car park via a forest road.

2 hours | easy

Extend the waterfall walk on a circular loop, up beyond the waterfall and round through the Glen Righ wood, back to the car park.  A lovely blend of forest path, open track and panoramic vista.
